A photograph of five people gathered on the observation deck of a passenger train car. One of the men wears a conductor's uniform. The man at the center wearing a suit is identified as Willem Van Hoogstraten. There are also three women wearing fur coats. A group of people wave from the train platform. Signs on the railing of the train car read, "North Coast Limited," and, "Great Northern Empire Builder." A handwritten caption on the back of the photograph reads, "On observation deck, next to conductor: Willem Van Hoogstraaten (sic.), conductor, Portland Symphony Society. Photo - 1929."
