The photograph was probably taken on September 21 or 22. A cropped version of this photograph was published on Page 2 of the Oregon Journal on September 22, 1932, under the headline “Franklin Roosevelt Buys Forget-Me-Not.” The photograph had the following caption: “Walter B. Gleason selling a disabled war veterans’ forget-me-not to Governor Roosevelt during the latter’s Portland visit. On the left is Joseph Zdenek, disabled veterans [sic] and wearer of the ‘Purple Heart.’ In the background is Congressman Charles H.
