Biographical history
Bernie Foster is a native of St. Louis, Missouri. He served in the US Air Force and was deployed to Vietnam in 1963. In 1975, he founded The Skanner with his wife, Bobbie Dore Foster, in Portland, Oregon. The paper now also has offices in Seattle, Washington.
