The goat is wearing a sign that reads “I’VE GOT CURLEY GOUGEN’S [sic] GOAT.” Vincent “Curley” Goguen was also a beauty king candidate. A cropped version of this photograph and image No. 375A0392, featuring Goguen, were published on Page 3 of the Oregon Journal’s final edition on Saturday, July 11, 1942.
