Photograph showing an unidentified official speaking during the keel laying for a cargo ship at the Albina Engine & Machine Works shipyard in Portland on March 16, 1945. He is standing on a bunting-draped platform and speaking into a microphone. Workers are watching from a pier or other elevated wooden structure in the background. According to two stories in the Oregon Journal on March 16, the cargo ship was to be the first of 20 that the Netherlands had ordered from the Albina shipyard for use in the Dutch East Indies, now Indonesia.
