Cased photograph featuring a portrait of a seated baby girl wearing a white dress. She holds her hands up near her face and looks at the camera. Typed note enclosed with the image reads, "Mary Waller, born off Cape Horn, 1839; died January 13, 1903. Sister of Julia Ellen, who was wife of Rev. C. C. Stratton. Donated by Mary A. Stratton, Rec. 580." A second, handwritten note contains the same information. [The information contained on these notes may be incorrect. This image is an ambrotype, a type of photography invented in 1854.] Case is made of wood and pressed paper.

Henwood." is written in pencil and a promotional paper label for the Hubard Gallery. Legacy collection records indicate that this item is part of the Seth Pope collection.

Portrait of Lewis Field Linn

A daguerreotype portrait of Lewis Field Linn, a United States Senator from Missouri. He wears a suit with a cravat and is seated with his hands in his lap looking directly at the camera. Image note: There is significant damage to the photographic plate including scratching and tarnishing. Conservation work was done to reseal the case and stabilize the photograph. The conservation notes indicate that the inscription, "Lewis Field Linn," is visible on the back of the image plate.

Cased photograph featuring a portrait of a bearded man wearing a suit. Handwritten note pasted to the exterior of the case reads, "Averill David." Handwritten note on small envelope inside the case reads, "David Averill - Portland, Maine, and his wife, Martha Ann (Horton) Averill - Portland, Maine. Year 1845. Mrs. Elizabeth A. Averill, Donor rec. no. 85." Case is a union case made of thermoplastic.

Handwritten note on small piece of paper enclosed with the case reads, "Martha Ann (Morton) Averill. Wife of David Averill - of Portland Maine. Year 1845. Mrs. Elizabeth A. Averill, Donor Rec. no. 85." Inscription on back of the image reads, "Charles P. Genn, Bucksport, Me." Overmat is stamped with the name, "Ormsbee." Case is made of velvet, leather and wood with applied relief motifs.

Clarke" refers to Samuel Asahel Clarke. Case is made of leather and wood. Case cover was missing and replaced with archival board during conservation.

A portrait of an unidentified man. He is seated with his hands in his lap looking to the left of the camera. He wears a light colored suit. Conservator records indicate that there is a handwritten note on the green liner paper in the case which reads, "Taken in Hartford, Conn. 1846." The photograph is an ambrotype but my be a copy of a daguerreotype portrait.

Case contains 2 portraits. On the left is a portrait of a woman seated at a table. She wears a dress and holds a book on her lap. Two additional books are displayed on the table. One has the words, "Holy Bible" written on its spine. On the right is a portrait of a man seated at a table. He wears a suit and rests his right arm on the table. Typed note enclosed with the image reads, "Daguerreotype Rev. Nehemiah Doane and wife taken about 1849. Acc. No. 9852." Reverend Doane was a Methodist Episcopal minister who became superintendent of the Oregon Institute, known today as Willamette University, in Salem, Oregon. His wife's name was Matilda Draper Doane. Legacy collection records indicate that this photograph may have been taken just prior to their move to Salem, Oregon. The image of Nehemiah Doane was previously named: OrgLot1414_0234S011. Case is made of wood and leather.
