A blacksmith stands in the doorway of a sawmill. An anvil sits on a wooden block in front of him as he strikes it with a hammer. Metal objects and a wheel can be seen on the ground nearby. The image is discolored in one corner and around the edges due to light exposure to the negative.

Exterior view of the Steelhammer blacksmith shop on First Street in Silverton, Oregon. The shop has its front doors open and a number of fliers can be seen tacked to the door. The shop next door has a sign for "H. Haalang. Shoe Maker" above the door. A horse-drawn wagon and several automobiles are parked along the street and a dog lays in the middle of the street.

Uncased tintype featuring a portrait identified as David Weston. The photograph is a copy photograph of another cased image. In the portrait Weston wears a button-up flannel shirt and looks directly at the camera. Legacy collection records indicate that Weston was a Pioneer of 1842 who worked as a blacksmith. He also participated as a Lieutenant in Oregon's First Regiment of Mounted Volunteers during the Cayuse War.
