The photograph is mounted on a grey mat that was once bound into an album. Handwritten text below the photograph reads "Flood of 1890" and "Lady in Canoe". The photograph was taken in February, 1890, when excessive rain and unusually warm weather caused the Willamette and Columbia Rivers to flood.
