Young Women Pose at the Lewis and Clark Festival - Seaside, Oregon

Photograph of five young women in bathing suits sitting on the ground and posing next to a sign advertising the Lewis and Clark Festival in Seaside, Oregon. This photograph was published in the Oregonian newspaper on June 4, 1949. The women are (left to right): Rosetta Clark, Maureen Luthe, Nancy Woodcock, Lynn Luthe, and Alene Sanders. Each is a candidate for the title of Miss Seaside at the festival. A label taped to the bottom of the print reads, "Lewis & Clark Festival, Seaside, Oregon." Stamp on the back of the print reads, "May be used for reprint or publication if credit given - Montag Film Shop - Seaside, Ore."

Handwritten notes on photograph read, "Sadao Kurata Yasutome, Jim's paternal g'mother (on left)," and, "12/20,1945." The Tule Lake Relocation Center was one of ten American concentration camps to which Japanese Americans were forcibly removed and incarcerated.
