Three children of the Woodard family pose outdoors in Silverton. Edith M. "Dede" Ferrin sits on a wicker chair with Mary Ann Woodard. A third girl, possibly Dede's sister Joan, stands next to the chair. Myron C. Woodard was the founder and president of the Silver Falls Timber Company.

William S. Smith and His Class, Oregon School for the Deaf, 1885

A black and white photograph of Mr. William S. Smith, the first teacher and founder of the Oregon School for the Deaf, and his class of 13 students. Smith sits in the center of the photograph with his students in chairs or standing around him. Standing (left to right): Eli Baker, Nelson Woods, Leona Fenland, Lee Brown, Nellie Druck, Fannie Whitaker, John Thornton. Seated (left to right): Eva Hockett, Kate Foland, Nina Penland, William S. Smith, Nancy Harris, Anna Harper, Renel Frazier. The photograph is mounted on a light brown mat. On the back of the photograph is a handwritten note that reads: "Williams S. Smith and his class, 1885 at Oregon School for Deaf Mutes, Church and Mission Streets. Wm. S. Smith, deaf himself, Oregon's first deaf teacher and founder of Ore. School for Deaf, November 1870." The Oregon School for Deaf-Mutes was the name of the school from 1880-1913.

Photographic copy of three portraits in stereographic format. On the left is Wayne Adelbert Simeral (1921 - 1968), grandchild of Adelbert Francis Simeral, who was well-known as A.F. Simeral. He wears a US Navy dress blues with rank insignia for petty officer third class Carpenter's Mate on his sleeve, and a wool beret. His enlistment date was April 6, 1943.

She is dressed in a dark, high-collared outfit with a chain necklace. The right portrait is a younger woman with a calm expression, wearing a large floral hat and a choker necklace. Both have similar facial structures, which could suggest a familial relationship or the same person at different stages of life.

Unidentified woman and unidentified Naval Petty Officer Second Class Machinist's Mate

Close-up portrait of a woman and a man, one of whom or both are as identified Buell on the border of the negative. The woman has curly, chin-length hair and swept up bangs. She wears a beaded necklace and a dark blouse with a white lace panel. The man's hair is closely-cropped on the sides with wavy swept-back bangs. He wears a WWII Naval uniform indicating that he is a Petty Officer Second class Machinist's Mate. A symbol for nuclear power is embroidered on his sleeve in between an eagle and two chevrons.
