Three-quarters portrait of a man sitting on a wooden ramp outdoors and facing front. He is smiling and is wearing a Western-style hat and shirt, a neckerchief, and jeans. The following text is visible on his belt buckle: “BUCKING CONTEST / Cheyenne Frontier Days / 1933 / MEL STONEHOUSE.” The photograph was probably taken at the annual Pacific International Livestock Exposition in Portland. The name “Mel Stonehouse” is written on the negative and is visible at the bottom of the photograph. Image note: Photograph shows discoloration due to deterioration of the negative.
