A map depicting the territory that would become Alaska. The map covers four of the five regions of Alaska, leaving out the far north. The various Native American tribes in the region are classified in a table. Relief is shown by hachures. Translated title, "Map of Russian America."

Millar, Reverend James P.

Reverend James P. Millar/Miller, a minister of the United Presbyterian church. He was killed at Canemah, Oregon Territory, on April 8, 1854, by the explosion of the steamer Gazelle. His wife, Amanda, suffered two broken ribs from the incident. They had been living in Albany at the time.

This collection is comprised of two (2) daguerreotypes showing portraits of brothers Thomas and Walter Monteith, who founded the town of Albany, Oregon, circa 1849. They traveled to Oregon from New York in 1847 and settled adjacent land claims, sharing a house which straddled the two claims.

DOTY, Artist, Stevens Point." John Simonis is also pictured in OrgLot1414_0242S011_01. Case is made of leather and wood.

Town of Brooks on a part of the Brooks' claim Ambrotype taken at Butteville in 1855 by Lobdell, artist." [This image is a tintype, not an ambrotype.] Handwritten note on envelope reads, "Family settled in Marion Co, north of Salem (now Brooks)." Case is made of leather and wood.

Legacy collection records indicate that Mr. and Mrs. Adam Rudolph Shipley was Celinda Hines, the niece of Gustavus and Harvey Hines and daughter of Obediah Hines.
