Train tracks to the mill are visible in the foreground. From the Oregonian's Handbook of the Pacific Northwest published in 1894, "These mills are among the largest in the state. The capacity of the plant is 300 barrels of flour a day. The total output of these mills, for 1892, which was considered a short season, was 42,000 barrels. The celebrated brands of flour, 'Royal' and 'Pioneer,' manufactured by this company, are among the best-known brands of the coast, and great quantities of this flour are now regularly shipped to all parts of the world."
