Scope and content

A boy sits inside a tattered car, running a beer can opener over the seat covers. His name is Kelly Ridley and his parents work long hours in the hops fields of the Willamette Valley, Oregon. They have no access to daycare, so he is left in the car for long hours. This image was published in the Valley Migrant League's Opportunity News on May 13, 1966. It accompanied an article announcing the upcoming opening of a new daycare center for children of farm workers.
