Scope and content
A black and white photograph of a carpentry class at the Oregon School for the Deaf on Locust Street. Students stand working at various locations throughout the room. Machinery can be seen in the background while mostly finished furniture fills the foreground. The class was taught by John Carpenter (wearing light colored overalls standing next to the almost-finished bench). A note written on the back of the photograph reads: "OSSD's new Industrial Arts and gym building 1922 (carpenter class). OSSD stands for Oregon State School for the Deaf, the name of the school from 1913-1989.
