Photograph of Cardinal Alexis Henri Marie Lépicier (center, in biretta, with hand raised) walking past a crowd during the procession into St. Mary’s Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland for the opening service of the Marian Congress on August 12, 1934. Lépicier had traveled to Portland from Rome for the congress, which was held from August 12-15, 1934. The number 42 is written on the negative and is visible in the upper right corner of the image.
